
Our company was the first industrial complex aiming specifically
to provide city people with meat and meat products and was established
in 1946 as the Civilized Meat Industrial Complex.
In 1968 and between 1987 and 1989, our industrial systems and
technology were modernized with technical and economic assistance
from Germany. In 1992 the industrial complex was reorganized
into as the Makhimpex Shareholding Company, with 51% of the
common equity fund being retained by the state. In 1997 the
Genco Company took control of 71% of the ordinary shares, with
the other 29% belonging to small shareholders.
The Makhimpex Company is the largest Mongolian meat processing
factory and supplies the Ulaanbaatar city market as well as
exporting to Russia, China, Jordan, Japan, Germany and Holland.
The Makhimpex Company have branch facilities in 10 aimags, through
which they buy and process stock and raw materials.
The Company has separate divisions, including facilities for
meat processing, sausagemaking and meat canning, casing processing,
meat sorting and packaging, freezing and another 10 divisions.
The meat processing factory is able daily handle:
- 8,000 sheep and goats
- 800 horses, camels and cows
- 300 pigs
Daily products:
- 4 tonnes of blood
- 1 tonne of meat and bone meal
- 8 tonnes of blood meal
- 10 tonnes of food oil
The stock and pig slaughtering system was
made in Hungary and put into operation in 1968.
The blood production line spins blood to a
solid using a high-speed steam turbine blowing hot air. The
equipment was made in Germany.
The casing factory receives stock and pig intestines
from rural areas, processing these to international standards
for export to Germany, France, Holland and other countries.
Mongolian sheep casings are noted for their strength and high
quality and are in high demand on the world market.
The sausage and meat canning facility is able
to produce 10 different kinds of meat, and produces 10 million
cans of meat and 30 kinds of sausage (5,000 tonnes) per year.
The Makhimpex Company produces sausage for the Ulaanbaatar public,
the best hotels and MIAT airline's international flights.
The freezing facility has space to freeze-store
16,560 tonnes of meat and meat products and is the largest in
Mongolia. The German-made equipment has been working well for
over 30 years.

Transportation. Our company
uses the Ulaanbaatar city's road, rail and air network, and
is thus able to receive livestock efficiently. The facilities
contain the Bulgarian Balkankar company electric cars and elevators.
Our own transport fleet supplies our foodstuffs to Ulaanbaatar
city and suburban supermarkets and other outlets. The factory
has a branch line to the railways system, able to load and unload
stock, raw animal and other materials, meat and products. We
also have a fixed delivery network connecting to the airport.
Energy, water and heating supplies.
The facilities are connected to the central energy and heating
system. The Company receives steam from the city central heating
system for product processing. In winter the steam is also used
for general heating, using a boiler, which is very economic.
We use 3 sources of 6.10kVt power.
Veterinary and laboratory control
office. This is a state-licensed veterinary office
and laboratory, which monitors all process of production and
tests all slaughtered stock. It also carries out chemical, bacteriological
and sanitation tests on products, using international standard
laboratory equipment to confirm the quality of the end product.
Meat processing.
Our company obtains horses, cows, sheep and goats from its aimag
branches. They are slaughtered, prepared and frozen. The facilities
also dries (for 48-72 hours) horsemeat and beef, and separates
meat and bone. We produce whole and half smoked, boiled sausages
from beef, horsemeat, mutton and pork. We also produce various
smoked pork products, horsemeat, kaz (traditional Kazakh delicacy),
beef and horsemeat jerky and smoked tongue for sale on the domestic
market.
